Helmut Wilderer, a master distiller who had completed his training in Austria and Germany, was the first producer of Grappa and Eaux de Vie in the country in 1994 and is known as the “Grandfather of Grappa” in South Africa.

The distillery holds many highly acclaimed international awards despite its tiny artisinal production  – including gold and silver medals from the International Wine & Spirits Competition; DLG Germany; ISW Germany; Destillata Austria and the World Spirits Awards. At the latter they received the “Spirit of the Year” as well as “1st CLASS DISTILLERY “ awards.

Today, each and every bottle is still made and bottled by hand under Helmut’s watchful eye, with each individually numbered and ensured of the top quality spirit.

Today Wilderer’s Grappa and Eaux de Vie is enjoyed by connoisseurs around the world as part of the classic Cafe Corretto, neat or within a delicious cocktail.


Their range include a variety of traditional Grappas, as well as award winning Eaux De Vies (spirits distilled from fruit or herbs) including the popular Williams Birne Pear, Obstler (Apple & Pear) , Marille (Apricot) and Himbeergeist (Raspberry) Eaux de Vies.

Wilderer Muscato is the most popular of the Grappa range. Made from the sweet Muscadel grape and aged in oak to soften, it offers a beautiful mellow, honeyed nose with layers of dried apricot and raisins.

Wilderer Pinotage is an award winning grappa made from the uniquely South African Pinotage grape. It offers a great spectrum of different fragrances – vanilla, cherries, and roasted coffee aromas.   After 12 months ageing in oak, it is soft and round on the pallet, with a rich and sweet finish.

Wilderer Shiraz Signature Edition . An unusual Grape variety to be used for Grappa. Very minty on the nose with some white pepper, light smokey notes and some chocolate.

Silver Medal- Internationaler Spirituosen Wettbewerb 2008 (Germany)





Wilderer Fynbos Healing Herb bitter.  This unique South African speciality is naturally produced from over 30 fresh herbs (such as buchu betulina; devil’s claw; rooibush, honeybush; african wormwood and wild rosemary) from the Western Cape.  This bitter is distilled from the herbs, without adding any flavours, colourants or sugar.  Intense, Earthy, Elegant and Timeless.

Wilderer Williams Birne Pear Eaux de Vie .The aroma and explosion of flavour on the palate is the essence of fresh, pure pear.  Very suitable for creating unique cocktails and beautiful in Sorbets and other desserts.

T3 Reserve LR

T3 Port

This full bodied sweet wine is made from a unique blend of three different Port grape varieties from France, Spain and Portugal, namely Tempranillo, Tannat & Tinta Amarella – a unique combination for Port in SA.

The wine that this is made from is the T3 from Druk my Niet, one that was nominated for 5 stars and normally retails for around R300 a bottle  – so this port made from this wine is great value

Tasting NotesOn the nose it offers bright bursts of cherry, with aromatic cinnamon and cloves, whilst the palate offers a subtle juicy sweetness and harmoniously integrated wood notes.


CBC Beer CBC Bier Schnaps LRSchnapps

Made by Helmut Wilderer from the acclaimed Wilderer  Distillery in Paarl, this crystal clear beer schnapps has been    made from the finest CBC lager and should be served chilled as an aperitif, digestif or alongside an ice cold CBC draft.

On the nose a fresh hoppy citrus note, with a good mouth full and strong malty sweetness on the palate. To savour the full flavour of this artisanal schnapps, serve around 16 degrees. Do not keep in the freezer as it will restrict the natural aromas.
